No, 5G technology does not cause COVID-19 symptoms – PolitiFact

Since the beginning of the pandemic, various attempts to connect COVID-19 with 5G technology have circulated across social media. We’ve fact-checked several of these false claims.

Another iteration of these problematic assertions resurfaced in the form of a paper published on Sept. 29, 2021, in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Research.

“Their analysis revealed a clear overlap between the effects of wireless communication technologies on the human body and the symptomatology of COVID-19 disease,” a blog post on the paper said. “In other words, the electromagnetic radiation from wireless technologies, including and especially 5G, can cause the same symptoms as COVID-…….

What’s next in restaurant technology – Restaurant Business Online

2020 may have been restaurants’ great technological awakening, but it was also just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how tech will transform the industry. What seemed innovative just a couple of years ago, like mobile ordering, is now table stakes in the new, digital world.

So what’s next? As we look ahead to 2022, here are the four areas I’ll be watching most closely and my expectations for each.

I predicted last year that restaurant robots were ready to take a step forward in 2021, but even I was surprised by the progress they’ve made—not only in the kitchen but also on the roads and sidewalks and even in the air.

I expect even more develop…….

RCSD tells students & staff to take technology home over the holidays, just in case of any potential shift to remote learning – WXXI News

The Rochester City School District is letting students and families know that the students should take their technology home before the winter break starts on Friday.

In a series of tweets, the district notes that with COVID cases on the rise, it’s good for the students to bring tech equipment home with them, just in case they need to close any school buildings or shift to remote learning.

With positive COVID cases on the rise, we are asking all students to bring home their technology during the break. While no decision has been made to shift to remote learning, we want to ensure that everyone is fully prepare…….

Volta bets on space technology for battery storage fire prevention – Utility Dive

Dive Brief:

Energy storage developer Volta Energy Products last week announced a three-year deployment order with San Diego-based KULR Technology Group to apply KULR’s thermal safety solutions — initially designed for space missions — to energy storage.
KULR’s passive propagation resistant (PPR) solution suite — designed to stop lithium-ion battery failures from spiraling out of control without external fire suppression — has been used on NASA missions. The system prevents cell-to-cell thermal runaway and contains any fire and debris inside a battery pack protection, turning the system off to prevent any spread in damage.

Education quality, green technology, and the economic impact of carbon pricing | VOX, CEPR Policy Portal –

Carbon pricing is among the most prominent policy instruments being used or considered by governments to reduce emissions today. Proponents argue that carbon pricing may allow us to reach internationally accepted temperature targets at minimal cost (Borissov et al. 2019, Gollier and Tirole 2015, Rausch et al. 2011).

However, most studies suggest that carbon taxes will negatively affect output and could be regressive (Grainger and Kolstad 2010, Mathur and Morris 2014, van der Ploeg et al. 2021), though some emerging empirical studies challenge this (e.g. Klenert and Hepburn 2018, Metcalf and Stock 2020, Shapiro 2021). Mitigating factors that can reduce output losses or …….

In early March 2020, Stephen Glicken was looking forward to an exciting development for Project Admission, a ticket technology platform he had co-founded two years earlier. Project Admission had signed a contract with a National Hockey League team, and the company hoped a successful launch would lead to more sports clients.

That deal was upended when the NHL su…….

A Cautionary Tale About the Importance of Costs in Technology Acquisition and Service Delivery | By Aaron Shepherd – Hospitality Net – Hospitality Net

They say that the only constant in life is change, and there is perhaps no better example of this adage at work than the world of technology. Technology is, after all, an agent of continued disruption. What once was will – at some point in time – no longer be, as innovation continues to rip the proverbial rug out from under our feet with one digital makeover after the next.

As new platforms and processes emerge with each passing year, our understanding of the world (and the way in which we interact with it) is subject to constant upheaval. We saw dial-up internet become high-speed connectivity, we saw the Walkman become the iPod, and then we saw the iPod cannibalized by the iP…….

Advanced microseismic technology addresses host of challenges – Midland Reporter-Telegram

Getting a more detailed look at what’s happening in oil formations could address a host of challenges.

Top of mind for Permian Basin producers is how their fracturing programs perform downhole. ESG Solutions has developed various pieces of technology that can offer a 3D view of where proppants and frac fluids are being placed, said David Moore, chief executive officer.

Speaking with the Reporter-Telegram by telephone, he said his company can monitor those proppants and fluids and show where those proppants and fluids move, something that can address the issue of parent-child well interaction.
